7ContinentsGallery  > Travel > Flores Indonesia Trip - May 2011
One of my most pleasant surprises in all of my travels was to the wonderful islands of Flores and Komodo in Indonesia in April, 2011. Trying to find more remote locations, I had always wanted to see the Komodo Dragons and then discovered Flores during my research. I was very nervous about this until I got there and then it was pure heaven. Very unknown in the travel world, the people, landscape and adventure was more than I ever expected and exceeded many other trips more famous. Mostly a Catholic community, we went during Easter and loved being with the local poeple...not spoiled by tourists. Also, paganism is still practiced in some of the traditional villages, which along with the volcanic nature and rice fields, made this a photographer's delight! Highly recommend..very affordable.
